Challenge

Given a fictional interior landscaping company’s business goals and brand guidelines, build an accessible, mobile-first, brand new website for the company specifically using the Bootstrap framework.

Rationale

The goal of this project was to rapidly create a microsite for this business using the Bootstrap framework. The site was required to be mobile-first and fully WCAG 2.2 compliant. The brand guidelines and assets were provided to us and formed one of the main constraints on the design. Bootstrap also provides some accessibility challenges as certain recommended patterns (such as specific heading level uses) are problematic and as an accessibility evangelist were implemented in a more correct manner by me. While there are other frameworks and layout methods available, Bootstrap is excellent for getting a relatively simple static site up quickly.

Critique

As a get-something-into-production-in-a-week project, this isn't too bad. Obviously, with a bit more time, I would refine some of the vertical rhythm and white space usage.
